St. Isaac’s Cathedral is an outstanding monument of Russian architecture of the XIX century. The dome of the Cathedral is made of metal, and it took about 100 kg of gold to gild it. 43 rocks of minerals were used in the construction. The interior walls are lined with white marble with a decorative panel of green and yellow marble, jasper and porphyry. There are columns outside the Cathedral – there are only 48 of them. Each of the columns has a height of 17 m and weighs 114 tons.
