Last week brought a series of interesting conversations among friends and colleagues. On Monday, Paul proposed to Mary that they go out for dinner on Saturday, as they hadn’t spent time together for quite a while. He thought it would be a nice break from their usual routine.

Later that day, a bit of confusion arose when Tom firmly denied ever speaking to Janet about the issue that had come up at work. He claimed he hadn’t even seen her that day, let alone discussed anything with her. It was clear he didn’t want to get involved.

Meanwhile, Sophie’s mother asked her gently whether she would like to meet up after her shift was over. She hadn’t seen her daughter in days and missed their usual chats over coffee. Sophie appreciated the offer, even though she was exhausted.

At the clinic, a nurse advised Mr Jones to stay in the waiting room until the doctor was available. “It shouldn’t take long,” she assured him, but recommended that he remain seated and wait patiently, just in case the doctor was running late.

Elsewhere, a man told the police officer that he hadn’t witnessed anything suspicious. The officer took notes, but the man seemed genuinely unaware of what had occurred nearby. He said he’d just been passing through.

That evening, back at home, someone kindly offered to prepare dinner for everyone. “You’ve all had a long day,” he said. “Let me handle the meal tonight.” The others gladly accepted, thankful for the gesture.
